In Carnatic music, Geethams are the simplest composed pieces taught to beginners after mastering basic swaras (notes).
Swarajathis, on the other hand, are more advanced. They combine swaras (notes) and sahitya (lyrics), often in a danceable rhythm. They serve as a bridge between geethams and varnams, introducing bhava (expression), laya control, and complex rhythmic patterns.
This documents contains 12 geethams and 3 swarajathis.
